After the success of Love's Labour's Lost, we were making plans to put on another Shakespeare play the following year. Thus, we decided to create a Facebook page and, obviously, we needed a name. Elisabeth, Thomas and Diana did some funny brainstorming and we'd like to share some of Thomas' suggestions with you:
Sadly they were all too long and probably only funny to insiders. Therefore, we decided, with a heavy heart, to take another shorter name... and here we are: SWISS STAGE BARDS!

In April and May this year our multilingual Love’s Labour’s Lost was presented to audiences at the University of Fribourg, and then taken on tour around the Canton; it was very warmly received. Between performances, the cast worked with Mark Jones, a professional film-maker, to prepare a film of ‘The Fribourg Love’s Labour’s Lost’. Scenes were shot in various locations around Fribourg: in the buildings and grounds of the University’s Miséricorde and Perolles sites, at the station, at the Loreti Chapel, in the public Petit Paradis gardens and the Sculpture Garden, even in the Nail Bar on the Rue de Lausanne. The aim was to produce a truly local Shakespeare, and we envisage making the film available to the Fribourg public online. The film will be available soon! (Elisabeth Dutton)

(Thomas Aeppli)

In June, the cast and translators travelled to London to present "Translation in a Small Space", papers and a workshop based on the project to an international conference, "Adapting, Performing and Reviewing Shakespearean Comedy in a European Context", hosted by King’s College, London at Senate House. We were delighted to discover that our highly ‘local’ project was of considerable interest to academics from across Europe and the US. The highly localized Fribourg production had indeed provided a context in which Shakespeare’s words could be translated and, perhaps paradoxically, re-animated for audiences far beyond Fribourg.
