Finally, after London and Lausanne, we performed in the Aula Magna of the University of Fribourg!
Our show contained scenes of Love's Labour's Lost, The Merchant of Venice and our upcoming piece Henry V. Of course, we performed in all four official Swiss National languages and in some Swiss German dialects. Read more...

The Swiss Stage Bards celebrate Shakespeare at King's College London with extracts from Love's Labour's Lost, The Merchant of Venice, and Henry V!
ENGLISH
In April and May this year our multilingual Love’s Labour’s Lost was presented to audiences at the University of Fribourg, and then taken on tour around the Canton; it was very warmly received. Between performances, the cast worked with Mark Jones, a professional film-maker, to prepare a film of ‘The Fribourg Love’s Labour’s Lost’. Scenes were shot in various locations around Fribourg: in the buildings and grounds of the University’s Miséricorde and Perolles sites, at the station, at the Loreti Chapel, in the public Petit Paradis gardens and the Sculpture Garden, even in the Nail Bar on the Rue de Lausanne. The aim was to produce a truly local Shakespeare, and we envisage making the film available to the Fribourg public online. The film will be available soon! (Elisabeth Dutton)

(Thomas Aeppli)
After performing on the huge Aula Magna stage we had to adjust the play to the much more smaller tent stage. Performing in the tent was a great experience. Since the audience was much closer to the stage and the actors, the energy flow was highly intense and people seemed to have enjoyed the show even more. (Photos: J.P. Our premiere took place in the university's huge Aula Magna. Circa 500 people came to see our show and we were totally overwhelmed! (Photos: Alain Wider) Yes! We managed to get a full page article in the Freiburger Nachrichten newspaper! Have a look at what the Freiburger Nachrichten journalist wrote about us!
